European Roadshow to Promote Corvera Airport

The Murcia region's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, has announced how the promotion of the region's new Corvera International airport will begin in Russia later this year.

Speaking in an Interview with Onda, the Minister explained how a tour of a number of Russian cities would commence in November in prepration for the airport opening in the spring of 2012.

Cruz went on to say how the Region will not take part in any exhibitions next year, in particular the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid which alone will save the region 600,000 euros. Overall the savings will allow the promotional road show to take in further European cities.

The Audi med cup sailing event is also expected to attract 180'000 visitors to the region - 10'000 more than the previous event, and where advertising revenue alone is expected to raise 10 Million Euros.

The roadshows are intended to promote both tourism in the Murcia region and the Corvera International airport. Given that the region's Paramount Pictures Theme Park is not due to open until 2014, it is important that the airport can survive financially until the park opens.

Paramount Pictures estimate that the theme park will attract 5 million visitors per year, of which 3 million will fly into the airport.
