A QUESTION TO THE FUNDRAISING AND EVENT ORGANISERS ON THE URB?
Why is MABS never suported here in this large Ex Pats area?

What then is MABS I take it to be just another one of those animal charities? Of which there are more than enough

Dreamer,
Just like you,I didn't know what MABS was, So I did a bit of digging in other forums.
Mabs was founded in 1999, and originally meant Marina Alta Breast Cancer Support , It was founded to assist people who suffered from this form of cancer, but due to its work, Doctors and other professionals dealing with all types of Cancers referred patients to MABS, so much so, that they changed their name to Cancer Support Group.
The information I have written is from a Forum comment from 5 years ago so obviously things may of changed somewhat, but then the groups central office was in Javea, and La Marina had its own Co-Ordinator.

Well done Alan that was a good bit of detective work on your behalf. So we were once covered but not now here in La Marina, as you pointed out we did have our own Co-Ordinator at one time. It is to me mind blowing completely and utterly. Those that live here full time I would of thought are more than aware how little cover the Spanish system offers for people with a major health problem, who need help in their home. Yet we on this large urbanisation are not covered? Wonder what hapend to our MABS La Marina Co-Ordinator Seems that Dogs Cats and Horses are far more important than us mere Humans.

Dreamer.
Just a quick update, I have sent a P.M. to the guy who was La Marina Co-Ordinator in 2009, asking him if he still fills that position, if so could he send more info. to me.
Your original request about who MABS were, hit a nerve as my Wife suffered from this disease in 2010, thanks to the speed of the Spanish Health System, everything has gone well for her ever since. But it led me to think about those who are not so lucky.

Dreamer, if you are so concerned why don't you start something up yourself. I am sure you would get a lot of help from people on this forum, or are you one of those people who criticise others whilst sitting back and waiting for others to do things? We can all do that, its easy !!!!!!!!!!!!
